The focus of the School of Biblical Studies(SBS) is the Bible. It's a nine month intensive study of the Bible. During that time the student goes through all 66 books of the Bible approximately 5 times using the inductive method.
The goal of SBS is to help students to really know God so that they can make him known to others. The purpose and desire of SBS is that the Spirit of God would transform lives by the study of Scripture. Increased understanding of God's character and his word impacts how the message of the Gospel is shared with others.
SBS fits into Youth with A Mission as Bible training for people who have already been with YWAM and desire more understanding of the Word. SBS is also a great fit for people wanting to get involved within YWAM, but do not want to spend a number of years in Bible college.
SBS is concerned with the student grasping the content of the scriptures. The content is covered in the student's independent study and in class lectures. SBS takes a student through the whole Bible. The student uses the inductive Bible method to study the scriptures. This approach allows the scripture to speak for itself and studies scripture in context.
Students approach the text with an understanding of the historical context of the book. They ask questions of the text to determine what is said, what it meant to the people it was written to and how it applies to their own live. The goal of all Bible study is transformed lives shaped by truth in God's Word.
SBS staff are committed to teaching the Bible and seeing lives transformed through the study and application of God's word. They are committed to modeling this through wholehearted servant leadership, and by promoting a Biblical worldview.
