God has created us for relationship with him. He’s placed in us a desire to know him. The more intimately we know him the greater the desire to see others also know him. Youth With A Mission was formed with this in mind. Their vision is to know God and make him known. This has become my own desire as well. Philippians 3:10-11 reflects the prayer of my heart.
"I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death, if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead."
Philippians 3:10-11
The only way we can know Christ is to be in continual relationship and communication with him. The primary method of doing this is to be in God’s Word on a regular basis. As we begin to understand God’s character and his desire for people to know him as represented in scripture we can shape our lives by these truths.
Unfortunately, many believers find the Bible difficult to understand and struggle with how to approach scripture and make it applicable to life today. There is great joy in discovering the depths of God’s love and the significance of God’s grace in our lives. God has placed a desire on my heart to equip and encourage believers to study scripture so that they can discover and apply the truths of scripture to their own lives to know God more, to live in the freedom of salvation and to be an effective witness in our world.
"You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."
Matthew 5:14-16
In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus gave the disciples the great commission. He instructed them to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” All believers are called to participate in this commission. As I’ve sought God’s direction in how I can be obedient to this call he has lead me to YWAM Turner Valley. The School of Biblical Studies(SBS) focuses on teaching people to live in obedience to God through study of his word. God has lead me to join the SBS staff at YWAM Turner Valley. I’m excited about the work that God is doing among the staff and students in YWAM Turner Valley and I’m excited to be a part of that work.
